Udemy has had its fourth leadership send-off this year. Chief Marketing Officer Genefa Murphy has resigned 2.5 years into her tenure to pursue other opportunities. This is after CEO Greg Brown’s exit in March 2025 after serving just two years CTO Eren Bali’s replacement in June 2025 CPO Prasad Raje’s transition out of his role (started October 2024 and ended in March 2025) Now it’s CMO Murphy. She was hired in July 2023, when Udemy’s Enterprise revenue was more than half of the total revenue

The future of Coursera’s only credible alternative for universities rests in the hands of 2U’s creditors.

Update (April 2026): On April 9, shareholders of both companies voted overwhelmingly to approve the merger — 99.4%% at Coursera, 99.9%% at Udemy. The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2026. I also dug into the 300-page merger prospectus and found that Coursera approached Udemy three times over two years before getting a yes, and that Pluralsight’s owner made a competing cash offer.
